Yesterday, I went to a friend's house because he had Excel, and they want to test my knowledge of it at my job interview on Tuesday. I also picked up my month's supply of Pills and bought my sister's birthday presents and proceeded to go home and loaf around. I barely stopped watching TV long enough to eat a decent meal. It was lovely. I even went to bed at a reasonable hour (about 10 PM), and slept damn near 12 hours. I had no idea I was that tired.
A library in the area had a book sale today, and I picked up nine books for $9.50. The cool thing about book sales is that I never know what's going to be there that I might want to read, and I wind up choosing a bunch of books I had never SOUGHT OUT, before. I say, "$1.00? I'll read that for $1.00!" It's a wonderful feeling, at least in this obsessive reader's opinion.
I also picked up new shoes for my job interview. My current shoes are beat to death. I can get away with wearing them at my current job, but when trying to make a good first impression I should avoid wearing them.
Tomorrow, I'm finally going to spend the time transferring all of my songs from my previous computer (my step-father's computer, actually) to my lovely (if memory-deprived) laptop. I've been meaning to do that for the seven months or so I've owned my laptop, but haven't gotten to it, yet. I'm then going to go to the library (basically across the street from my step-father's) and proceed to rent every stand-up comedy video that looks vaguely promising. I might even rent a few more CD's and put even MORE songs on my hard drive. Probably quite a bit of comedy, actually. I'm quite far from depressed, but at the same time I'm a little short of laughs in my life, and there's nothing better than laughter in one's life.
Monday will be the task of cleaning and decorating my room, which is another thing I've wanted to do but never found the time and energy to do. Well, it's pretty clean, and I keep it that way, so really DECORATING is what I've been meaning to get to.
Then comes Tuesday, which promises to be the start of a LOOONG five days. First comes my job interview, then I've agreed to go to the airport with my step-father and pick up my sister.
If the interview went well, and I get the job (I've been informed that the decision is made immediately after the interview), I have to go to my current workplace on Wednesday and inform them I will not be working for them after two weeks' time (the polite warning time in this country). After that is my step-father's birthday bash for my sister (who is turning twenty-one).
Thursday is a holiday here called Thanksgiving, and my mother is hosting a get-together for a small number of family members. It'll be LOVERLY, as my mother is a vegetarian (like me), a good cook, and makes ONLY vegetarian dishes for get-togethers. This disappoints the extended family members (my sister is also vegetarian, but the rest are not), but I couldn't be happier.
Did I mention that my mom and step-father are divorced? Just thought I'd clarify that point, so you know I'm shuttling from house-to-house the whole time. Otherwise, it's just fine with me. My step-father, for all his faults, is a decent guy who has been more of a father to me than anyone else, including my real father. He just didn't belong with my mom, in the long run.
Oh, and an amusing point is that my sister and mother became vegetarians because of ME. Everyone tends to assume I'm vegetarian because my family is, but I'd been vegetarian about five years before my mother did. My sister made the choice around the age of eighteen, which was the same age I made the decision.
Friday, I will probably sleep and veg-out in front of the television and get to sleep early. Why? Because I start back at work on Saturday, and it is INVENTORY, which means I could work two 12-hour shifts in a row and still not accomplish everything that needs to be done.
Still, it will all be worth it. "Vacations" rock!
Be well, voyeurs and voyeurettes. I'll continue to update periodically when I wind up at home with enough free time. :)
